International Law

The Parr Waddoups International law group assists clients with international operations in the areas of finance, trade disputes and other general commercial matters. We also facilitate foreign investment of equity and debt and related investment restructuring in U.S. real estate, particularly from Canada and the Pacific Rim.

Our international lawyers also provide legal counsel regarding intellectual property matters for international clients in the areas of licensing and distribution agreements, trademark and copyright infringement, consultation and litigation, and patent prosecution and litigation.

IP Licensing Experience includes:
  • Licensing or acquiring rights in intellectual property, domestically and internationally.

  • Assisting clients with a wide variety of intellectual property agreements, including patent, copyright, and trademark license agreements, trademark co-existence agreements, master services agreements, non-disclosure agreements, invention assignment agreements, Internet-related agreements, OEM, distribution and reseller agreements, confidentiality agreements and transfer agreements.

  • Representing Japanense clients in international licensing deals in Asia, Australia and France.

  • FDA approval for publicly-traded Japanese multinational company with offices throughout Asia and in Europe for the importation of radiological devices into the United States.

Depending on the case, we pursue legal options that offer clients the most efficient and economically fair resolution. In many cases where clients have been accused of infringement, we have researched the situations and responded with letters articulating the clients' positions. Often, based on the strength of such letters, no further action is required. When appropriate, we employ alternative dispute resolution strategies consistent with the client's objectives, but are equally qualified and staffed to pursue complex litigation strategies under the most adversarial of conditions.
