email Daniel Jensen has been practicing natural resources law since 1988. His practice encompasses water, mining, oil and gas, public land and administrative law. Mr. Jensen focuses on transactional work involving mineral interests, water rights and public lands, acquisitions and transfers of mineral land and water rights, title and due diligence reviews, land use entitlements, and development agreements. Mr. Jensen also handles related litigation, including disputes concerning property titles and boundaries, access rights, mining claims, water right ownership and modifications, regulatory compliance, and proceedings before the federal Interior Board of Land Appeals, the federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission, the Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining, and the Utah Division of Water Rights.
Mr. Jensen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Utah and spent three years as a mining engineer for Shell Oil Company in Houston, Texas and Springfield, Illinois.
Mr. Jensen has served as Chair of the Utah State Bar's Energy, Natural Resources and Environmental Law section as well as Chair of the Water Law committee and Chair of the Mining Law committee within that section. In 2005, he was named as the section's "Lawyer of the Year."
Mr. Jensen is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts of Utah and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a Trustee and member of the Executive Committee for the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation (2006-present) and a former judge pro tempore in the Third Judicial District Court for Salt Lake County (small claims, 1991-2005).
Mr. Jensen was listed in Utah Business Magazine's 2008 Legal Elite in energy and natural resources. He was also listed in The Best Lawyers in America 2008 edition and the 2008 Mountain States Super Lawyers.
